Cusack has a supporting role in this C. Thomas Howell/Jamie Lee Curtis vehicle. He plays Johnny Maine and is fitted into the cast nicely along with Jennifer Jason Lee. A nice place to watch Cusack hone his craft. The story is of a sleepy Midwestern town with bored high school graduate Tim (C. Thomas Howell) befriending the older woman Michelle (Jamie Lee Curtis). Michelle runs the demolition derby. The character of 'Slam,' (Patrick Swayze) is the top dog in the derby. A love triangle ensues. The characters grow up throughout the film.
