Cusack plays a crazy, food-whipping anarchist in a small role in this very laid-back cultish motorcycle movie that is often overlooked. John Doe (formerly of the punk band X) is an easy rider on a mission to bury his buddies ashes. Road trip turned surreal, to the ultimate degree (it's been called a 'New Age Odyssey' elsewhere).
See it for the thrill of watching Beastie Boy Adam Horowitz play Sam, who accompanies John Doe and they lope across American desert highways. A thrilling adventure ride. Other cameo's add to the zaniness and are by Timothy Leary, Arlo Guthrie and David Carradine.
