Rob Reiner's inverted unofficial remake of Frank Capra's Oscar-winning 'It Happened One Night.' In the original, Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert were traveling companions. The Sure Thing plugs John Cusack and Daphne Zuniga into these roles. The result is not exactly a Gable/Colbert production, but a refreshing take on it, nonetheless.

Cusack's desperate-for-action East coast college student Walter "Gib" Gibson is on the lamb for California. He ends up inevitably falling for uptight Alison (Zuniga) while they share a ride to California. One reviewer has said the movie feels like 'the revenge of geek filmmakers against pretty girls out of their league."
