John Cusack and James Spader go head to head in this gritty tale about loyalty, friendship and working for your spoils vs. being spoiled. Cusack plays Peter Burton. He is deceitful and bad. In a rare case of post-Brat Pack role reversal, Spader gets to play the lovable protagonist, Tim Gerrity.

The two are law-school room mates and the movie investigates the value of friendship and the price of loyalty. They go on to make career choices, some of the decisions are better than others. It is a pleasure to watch the chemistry between the two men as they work out their individual and combined lots. Examination of the person you become when the reality of the working world gets you in a stranglehold can shake the best among us up.
